Vocal Fry 2015

Vocal Fry (2015) explores a collection of techniques to transfer the resonant structures of vowels sound to synthetic sound sources. Vowels are morphed into inharmonic percussive sounds and strata of resonances. This composition explores linear predictive coding (LPC) to design new music production techniques based on the analysis of recorded speech and employs a formant synthesizer for speech synthesis (vowel sounds). Vocal Fry  was composed and recorded at the University of York (Department of Music) as part of my PhD thesis.
