Fricatives 2016
Focuses on the transformation of recorded consonants into vowel sounds; it explores how speech technologies can be used to go beyond the constraints of the human body by processing recorded performance within a computer model of the vocal tract. The composition employs a creative approach to sound design and transformations of recorded speech to develop a collection of sound synthesis and music production techniques.
Fricatives was composed and recorded at the University of York (Department of Music) as part of my PhD thesis.
