Vowel-Based 5.1 Reverb

Vowel-Based 5.1 Reverb

This research project introduces a new method for multi-channel reverberation by shaping 5.1 decorrelation using vowel-based spectral characteristics. The system uses Linear Predictive Coding (LPC) to extract spectral envelopes from recorded vowel sounds and combines them with velvet noise decorrelation to transform a mono signal into a personalised, vowel-shaped spatial reverb.

Developed as part of a peer-reviewed spatial audio research project in collaboration with Dr. Mróz from Gdansk University of Technology, this approach offers a creative and technically robust way to design immersive audio effects. By imprinting a user’s own vocal timbre onto multi-channel reverberation, the method expands both artistic expression and practical sound design workflows in immersive audio production
